Rekayi Tangwena Children’s Home

During the Christmas and new year hoilidays I traveled to Zimbabwe for a few days and had the priviledge of visiting Rekayi Tangwena Children’s home in Nyanga.

One of the reasons I visited the home is because I had bought a small weaving loom for them which I wanted to set up and and get one or two children learn and them teach others. I was very encouraged by the responses of the children as well the home administrator. I worked with two girls, Talent. who is going to be doing O’Levels this year and Yolanda who is going to be in Grade 7. Talent is wearing the stripped skirt in the picture and she is a quick learner. By the time I left she was teaching Yolanda.

These girls have a potential in using their hands if they do not make it to A’Levels or university. The small loom was my Christmas gift to the home and I am praying that I will be able to get more at least 3 more and pack them in my suitcase and take them to Zimbabwe.
